Bingo Birds - Altered Bingo Card

I had no idea what I was going to do for my altered envelope partner this month, so for inspiration I started digging through one of my art drawers that is full of vintage ephemera.  I found an old bingo card that I bought several years ago and decided to use it.

The sheet music and French postage stamp along the bottom are old but the other clip art images, including the birds, are new items.  I aged and blended everything using acrylic paint, distress inks and a "Distressed Effects" rub-on by My Mind's Eye that is so old I'm surprised it's not completely dried up.

On the reverse, I added a stamped postcard header by Tim Holtz. Although I could send this through the mail naked, I will probably put it in a clear cellophane envelope in order to give it some protection.  The bingo card is old and the corners, which are a little frayed, could easily get caught and damaged if sent through a modern postal machine.

On the Fence - Moo

This is the final moo for the swap I'm participating in.  I'll be happy to get these into the mail today, but then there's the long wait to receive my returns (the swap deadline is September 12).

Once again I started with a bingo card that had been dry brushed with white acrylic paint and stamped with a blue ticking stripe and brown splatter.  I colored the cute little guy from Artistic Outpost with Prismacolor pencils and distress inks.  Due to spacing issues and for added interest, I added some vintage text along the bottom.  The edges of the card were finished by dabbing on some espresso acrylic paint.

Live Laugh Love - Moo Houses

Are you tired of mini houses yet?  I hope not, because here are three more that I made over the weekend.

The backgrounds started with a bingo card that I trimmed to size (1 x 2.75 inches for the base; 1 inch square cut diagonally for the roof), sanded, tinted with distress ink, and dry brushed with white acrylic paint. Barely visible is a stamped flourish in Stazon dove gray.  Then I set to work coloring and inking these three lovely ladies from Artistic Outpost.  I added the stamped words and some espresso acrylic paint around all the edges before adhering the roofs.  The final step was to add the numeric rub-ons.  I'm using the numbers to keep track of the number of mini houses I made during the Mini House-athon on ATCs for All. 

ETA:  My lovely moo houses were selected by the Artistic Outpost Referral Program as a "Top 3" for the month of July!   For that honor I received a blog badge which I've added to the column on the right.  Such a happy and unexpected surprise.

Altered Bingo Card Nametag

I created this collage nametag (using my online nickname) for the upcoming art weekend that I'm participating in.  I am super pleased with how it turned out.

I started with a vintage bingo card and knew that I wanted to use the Scrabble tiles and old game card letters for my name.  I die-cut the letters using Nestabilities, added eyelets, and attached them to the bingo card with jump rings.  I played around with a bunch of different ephemera before settling on the following:  vintage kid's Valentine, bingo marker (I-22), a well-loved 1940s wallet photo, old milk bottle lid, the letter K (another game piece), red paper flower, and a couple of buttons.  Most of the items received a touch of acrylic gold paint around the edges before being glued on with heavy gel medium.  I mounted the bingo card on some floral patterned paper and then on black cardstock for added strength.

The final step was to add the garter belt clips on the top and a sheer black ribbon long enough to hang the nametag around my neck.  I knotted the ribbon in a couple of places and added another charcoal paper flower, so it's almost like a necklace and nametag combined.

This collage uses one of my favorite color combinations (black, red, and ivory) and represents my artistic style 100%.  I can't wait to wear it!
