Empty Enos Inchie - Theme Thursday

I finally made an inchie! And oh man, was it fun. I made it for today's Theme Thursday challenge: Words!

Here's the path I followed:
* saw some inchies online ages ago and was intrigued;
* recently stumbled upon an inchie blog that was doing an alphabet challenge;
* noticed that most inchies include a word;
* today's Theme Thursday challenge is Words.

I started by rummaging through my stamps for a face image small enough to fit within a one-inch square, and the rest just fell into place. It didn't take too long to make, except for choosing the font and size for the word. (I'm not going to psychoanalyze why I sliced open Enos's head and labeled it empty, but we could have a lot of fun doing so.)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Supplies:
Stamps: River City Rubber Works (Enos Curry), Inkadinkado (flourish); Archival jet black ink; Colorbox black pigment ink; clear embossing powder; rusty hinge distress ink; purple decorative paper from my scrap pile; Stampin' Up kraft cardstock; computer-generated text printed on Stampin' Up very vanilla cardstock; watch part; Matte Accents (used to glue paper and watch part to the background).

Come Up and See Me Sometime PDCC39

Here's a quick card I made tonight for the Play Date Cafe Challenge 39 "Dublin Style." I'll try to get a better photo tomorrow when we have a little more sunshine.

I pulled out one of my all-time favorite stamps by Stampington and Company called The Glance. I think this image works well with the classic color palette called for in the challenge.

Thanks for popping in. I hope you're having
a great week!

Supplies:
Stamp: Stampington and Company; Archival jet black ink; black, gray, kraft and green cardstocks by Stampin' Up; decorative papers by MAMBI (me and my big ideas); Martha Stewart border punch; Dew Drops; Prima flower; copper brad; Martha Stewart leaf punch; pop-dots.

Grow Old Along With Me - TMTA

Today's theme at Think Monday - Think ATC is "lovers." Young love may be exciting, but enduring love is inspiring and just as romantic, if not even more so.

This photo was taken at the beach in the early to mid-1920s. I love how dressed up this couple is! I don't know who they are or their names but they make quite a handsome pair. The original photo was in an album that belonged to a friend's parents.

I trimmed away some ugly buildings behind them, gave them a beautiful ocean blue background using the polished stone technique, and imagined the many happy events and possible tragedies they've experienced in their life together.

It feels good to make something again after a couple of weeks away from the craft table due to a work-related trip and just not feeling very creative.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Ranger glossy white cardstock; Adirondack alcohol inks (aqua, denim, stream, and pearl mixative); alcohol blending solution; Basic Grey rub-on flourish; computer-generated text printed on Stampin' Up whisper white cardstock; scalloped-edge scissors; faded jeans distress ink; clear self-adhesive rhinestones.

Random Raven - TMTA

Here's my very random raven for today's Think Monday Think ATC challenge.

It's late so I'll dispense with any artful musings about this project, which will not go down as one of my best efforts or favorite pieces. (I did, however, use only rubber stamps which was a self-imposed challenge. And I will quickly tell you that the numbers refer to a fact I found on a website proclaiming that some ravens have been taught to count.)

Thanks for popping in!

Supplies:
Stamps: Tim Holtz (raven, clock), Oxford Impressions (magic, background), and Hero Arts (numbers and question marks); glossy white cardstock from Stampin' Up; Versamark ink; clear embossing powder; Archival jet black ink; Colorbox pigment inks (on the raven and the clock); a variety of distress inks including the new honey, mahogany, and walnut stain; saddle brown Stazon ink; metal letter "r" embellishment; recycled hands from a wall clock that decided not to work just when I was getting ready to sell it at a garage sale.

Gluebook Page: Miss Mary Hayes

I completed this gluebook page for a challenge offered by Mary Green on her Green Paper blog. All one had to do was make a piece of artwork incorporating three images provided by Mary, and your name went into a drawing for some wonderful vintage ephemera.

The focal point of my page is this lovely woman (image #1 from Mary) with the faraway look in her eyes. She is holding a small nosegay of blue flowers (image #2, a cigarette card featuring a bouquet). Image #3 was a 1918 envelope with great color and texture. You can still see the wrinkles in the paper, even after it's been scanned twice.

Have a great weekend!

Supplies:
White cardstock base (4.5 x 6 inches); decorative papers by K & Company and DCWV; three vintage images from Mary Green; scraps of sheet music; old paper distress ink; glue stick.

Jesse the Pony

Here is an ATC I made for today's Theme Thursday challenge--Animals! It features a stamp by Oxford Impressions and bits and pieces from my scrap pile.

Doesn't every kid want a pony at some point? (I know I did. I also wanted a sister. I got neither!) But this lucky little tyke has his own pony named Jesse and all the cowboy gear to go with him.

Giddy-up!

I can't believe the weekend is almost here. I hope you have a good one!

Supplies:
Stamp: Oxford Impressions; crushed olive and walnut stain distress ink; matte coated white cardstock from Oxford Impressions; text from an old dictionary; Pink Paislee decorative paper; black cardstock by Bazzill; lyrics from old sheet music; letter "J" sticker by The Paper Studio; mini brass clip from Stampin' Up.

It's Good to be Queen - TMTA

Today's challenge at Think Monday - Think ATC is the Mona Lisa. Such an iconic figure deserves to be Queen for a Day, don't you think?

I found an image of the Mona Lisa online, printed a copy, and trimmed around the figure closely. I attached this to a background that I made myself using the polished stone technique, Adirondack alcohol inks, a French script stamp, and an Eiffel Tower collage stamp. I used a watermark program to add "It's Good to be Queen." Because Mona's crown wasn't quite regal enough, I added the glossy black gems. Additional supplies are listed below.

Thankfully my office is closed today in observance of Independence Day, as I expect to need a nap after staying up much too late making this ATC.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great Monday.

Supplies:
Stamps: French script (Stampin' Up), Eiffel Tower (Tim Holtz); glossy white cardstock by Ranger; red patterned paper by Pink Paislee; calendar sticker by Sticko; crown by Making Memories; gold German scrap; black adhesive gems by Sticko; aqua, lettuce, and denim alcohol inks by Adirondack; olive green Stazon; saddle brown Stazon; Archival jet black ink; matte gel medium.

Gluebook Page: Say Prunes

This week's Theme Thursday challenge is to use torn paper, something I do quite often and especially when creating vintage gluebook pages. I haven't made a page in a few weeks so I pulled out my vintage ephemera and went to work on a two-page spread.

I do not know when this photograph was taken, but the people are related to me on my paternal grandmother's side. I love all the details in the photograph: the fancy textiles on the tables, the big pot-bellied stove on the far left, and the fireplace mantel on the far right. I don't know whether this was their home or a setting at a photography studio (my feeling is it's probably a studio). I would like to think that my ancestors lived in such cozy and beautiful surroundings, but I guess I'll never really know.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Text from two different Victorian-era German books; graphic from a circa 1900 geography textbook; floral pieces from a 1920s book; decorative papers by Pink Paislee and DCWV; glue stick.
